It is buddy. City blocks is good compared to bus base. I just got my base really quickly congested on the train system. I also did some u turn and I don't like that. At least if you make the u turn small compared to the train size. A small tip is to only have I, L and T shape segments.I'm considering either no-left-turn RHD grid or offset-square (the one where city blocks are offset half their size across one axis, which makes T-only intersections). Regarding hexagons - I don't think they're really more efficient. My main argument is that Factorio's map is square aligned and doesn't allow for arbitrary element rotations.Community-run subreddit for the game Factorio made by Wube Software. I wanted to get as much throughput in 1 city block as I could, and it should be the proper ratios. https://i.postimg.cc/8NSqS7Rg ...

Heres my first stab at a blueprint book for 3x3 city block structures. All of the prints shown fit cleanly into the outline grid. I'd love to hear any feedback. Note that there is no mall, and this requires the LTN mod to work properly, and all trains are RHD, 2 engines with 4 cargo cars.I've seen two different ways to make a rail-block-based base, and used one. The first way (which I have used) is to make a standard "block" with rails along each edge of a square. The blocks are typically sized so that you can have one or two "sidings" per side; each siding is an s-curve off the main rail, then a station for your ...I've recently played two different games that have city block designs, and I'll share what I've learned. First decide what your train configuration is. Decide how many locomotives, and …The exit crossing was frustrating but couldn't figure out a way to do it otherwise. Roboports are in a perfect grid, throw one in the middle for complete coverage, but I'm only using them for construction. Many of my blocks I've noticed don't really need the stacker, but some it definitely helps like my stone tablet block.Every time you build a new “unload” station, immediately drop a train in it. Set the train limit on the station to 1, and then set the schedule for the train to “iron ore load until full cargo, …City blocks should use the Blueprint grid feature to align blocks perfectly. These blocks usually contain a square of 2way rail around it. The input/output of a block comes from the a costume station design that the blocks should be build around to fit. If the station has trouble, the whole block system has trouble.B2 - 115spm lab block - 9 of these. B3 - train station that feeds lab block - 6 inputs: iron plates, copper plates, steel plates, coal ore, stone ore, crude oil, 9 of these. C2 - LTN depot, 4 of these. 11 cargo trains, 3 liquid per depot. D2 - transfer station, 2x for iron and copper, 1x for other 4 inputs. The idea is to spread production on multiple blocks to avoid congestion of trains all into one. This also means spreading depots, spreading smelting or do direct insertion style from ore to like blue chips. For high spm, splitting factory into multiple LTN channels or sections of the map ...I build out as many blocks to the walls (city blocks implies that all the blocks are connected and is one gigantic network), and then add roboports going from the edge of the blocks to connect to the ones on the walls. So for every block I'll have a line of roboports going to the walls.inspired by watching Nilaus use City blocks in his playthroughs and decided to try and make my own city block construction book to use myself. the main feature is the Solar City Block with robot support. It allows you to customize every segment and junction individually meaning you don't need to follow the convetional square grid. It supports trains up to size 8. Sweet. I'll give it a try.In there I went with 10 stations per block and with 3 stacker spaces per station (so up to train limit of 4). In the end that turned out to be quite a bit of an overkill. So my actual advice would be: Your blocks are relatively small, so even with full beacons you won't be able to fit huge production inside any single block.Best. LTN is great for a SE (and I assume K2+SE) run because of the increased number of intermediates but none of my bases have more than a handful of trains running at any given time.SPM blocks are common, and usually the source of the desire to grid, but other things like mining arrays, power blocks, "mall"/hub blocks, and factory supply arrays (e.g. solar panel or module building arrays) should probably all not be forced to be the same size and sit on the same grid as science.327 votes, 46 comments. 344K subscribers in the factorio community. So, the root problem is oil balancing. I don't have oil storage except at my oil processing facilities. The output products are broadcast on my city blocks on the red wires. My Heavy->Light and Light->Petrol blocks read the wires and then process accordingly. Experiment with them, try to use them for simple mass-production tasks such as ore smelting or green circuit production. Don't build too much blocks unless you're confident with them. One of the biggest limitation of bots is actually stack size 4 for items. If they could carry more they could compete a lot better, although probably not in vanilla. There are extremely rare cases were bots have better performance than belts.

My working prototype right now is 10 chunks by 10 chunks -- 320 tiles * 320 tiles. Rail segments will be smaller, but still chunk-aligned.
