Matched well in the end with no research year. If you actually want to do research and can convey that, you will match to a 2+2 without a derm research year; it is a very small applicant pool that wants to do that, truly. The point of the derm research year in all honesty is to make connections, not to learn how to conduct research. So always clarify timelines and communicate if you don't think you can meet a deadline. It's better to let the PI know upfront so they can assign more people if necessary, instead of delaying the project. I know getting involved in research can be tough, especially when cold-emailing random PIs from other schools.

A research year also shows employment. At the end of the day, residency is a job, and too many candidates rely solely on high test scores.AnkiHub is a webapp and Anki add-on that allows for collaboration in real time (think google docs or wikipedia but for flashcards). The latest version of the deck will always be on AnkiHub, but there will be public releases occasionally. For residents/attendings, we suggest using CME money to pay for AnkiHub if you want to get the latest updates. In regards to #3 most calls are night and weekend, the day schedule is managed by a derm consult team/attending at most programs. I doubt you'll get a good answer for #4 since its super variable and will entirely depend on the severity of the call (ex: SJS vs. eczematous reaction have way different urgencies)Go to DermApp r/DermApp • by ineedabenzoasap. I think the mega-big programs with tons of faculty have the capacity to do holistic reviews. The smaller programs, even if they are good programs, that don't have a lot of faculty are doing cut-offs simply to help narrow down the list of applicants they have to go through.2.4K subscribers in the DermApp community.
