How to wire a transformer 480v to 120v

Transformer VA Primary Current (amps) Control P

The key components to look out for when interpreting a 480v to 120/240v transformer wiring diagram are the primary and secondary coils. The primary coil is the side of the transformer that receives the power from the main power supply, while the secondary coil is the side of the transformer that supplies the power to the load.Single Phase Transformer 480V to 120V. I have a square D single phase 1.5KVA dry transformer and I am hoping to get a thumbs up before I energize it. It has 8 wires - H1,H2,H3,H4,X1,X2,X3,X4. It is obvious from the tag that the incoming 480V connects to H1 and H4 and the outgoing 120V is connected to X1 and X4. The rest of the wiring is confusing.I spec out the wrong transformer because the transformer will be fed with 480V 3phase on primary side, and output will be 120/240V single phase. So this means my current rating on the primary side will be 15000/ 480V x 1.732 = 18amps. So my OPCD is 20 amps. Thanks for clarification.

Suppose you have a transformer with a KVA rating of 50 and a voltage rating of 480 volts. To convert KVA to amperage, you can use the formula: Amps = KVA / (Volts x 1.732) Amps = 50 / (480 x 1.732) Amps = 60.61. So the transformer can deliver a maximum of 60.61 amps at 480 volts.
