I really only use dormitories for the first year or so because there's too much else to be dug out, but once I've got everything necessary to keep things stable-ish, I take the time to give every dwarf a 1x4 bedroom (door, cabinet, coffer, bed.) In theory, since dwarves can walk over beds, it is possible to make a 5x5 dormitory with 25 beds. tots_o_tater Interesting... Then have a stone detailer engrave it at a craft workshop (Alt+s again). Choose the dwarf you need to lay to rest from the list. Finally build the slab like a piece of furniture (b then Alt+s yet again).
