The Multiethnic Introduction to Engineering (MITE) program was developed, in the summer of 1975, at Purdue University. Originally a two-week program, MITE is now a four-week, two-credit college simulation program modeled after the Freshman Engineering Academic Boot Camp that focuses on college readiness with a strong emphasis on math and engineering projects.Bowen Engineering in partnership with the Minority Engineering Program (MEP) at Purdue University provide students and supportive adults with the opportunity to engage in hands-on engineering projects, learn more about the industry, tour Purdue’s campus and experience a Purdue University football game.The oldest organization is the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), founded at Purdue University in 1975. MEP formally advises the Purdue chapters of NSBE and MAES, and we provide support to the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).
